PLEASE NOTE:
Dear Members of Central Ontario.
I would like to thank each and everyone of you for your support over the past 3 years as your director for the CKC.
I have indeed enjoyed coming to meetings and having a chance to talk with many of you.
As you know by now, I am not running for the board again for this election.
As far as I am concerned, the gentleman who is running is Alan Elwes a Saluki Breeder for many years and would hope that you would consider him on your ballot marking.
He will represent you with integrity and caring.
Once again, I thank all of you and continued success in your dog endeavours.
Best regards
Allan Pepper.
Updated FCI
CKC Chair, Dwain McLean, Director Ms. Lee Steeves, and CEO Joe Mauro held
extensive and lengthy discussions with the FCI Executive Committee and Executive
Director Mr. De Clercq over the course of this past weekend at the Eukanuba Invitational
in California. The discussions regarding FCI Circular 125 were cordial and frank.
It is not expected that any further information will be made available until
the CKC Board of Directors has been fully briefed, had the opportunity to hear
member input at the Regular December meeting of the Board, weighed the circumstances
and concluded regular CKC business. It is anticipated that an updated statement
will be made early next week.
IMPORTANT NOTICE
THE MEETING OF THE CKC BOARD OF DIRECTORS (SATURDAY, DECEMBER 9 ONLY) HAS
BEEN RELOCATED TO; TRILLIUM BALLROOM, HOLIDAY INN SELECT, 970 DIXON ROAD, WHICH
IS JUST WEST OF SKYWAY AVENUE ON THE NORTH SIDE OF DIXON ROAD. THE DISCUSSION
OF FCI ISSUES WILL BE A TIMED ITEM BEGINNING AT 10:15 a.m.
The meeting will reconvene on Sunday, December 10 at CKC offices.
Dear Members,
By now many of you have heard the rumours, I’m sure , regarding the
FCI ruling.
Here is what we know with certainty:
Since September 2005, the FCI, which comprises all the international countries
and kennel registries of the world except for the US, UK and Canada,(over 80
member countries) has attempted to communicate with the CKC on a number of important
issues, including recognition of pedigrees from several member nations (such
as Germany). All correspondence has gone to the CEO, never to the Board of the
CKC, who have been blindsided by all this and astonished at the FCI’s actions.
None of the correspondence has been answered. Neither was the current Board
informed that the FCI had sent any letters. The Board was unaware that the FCI
felt ignored, insulted and now, angry.
I have learned that the following decisions were made:
From January 1st 2007 Canadian Dogs will not be permitted to be registered
in any FCI countries. Dogs that have obtained the pedigree before that date will
maintain their FCI Registry.
Canadian Judges will no longer be permitted to give CACIB’s. Thus the
Canadian Judges will no longer be invited to judge any FCI International Dog
Shows.
Canadian Dogs will no longer be able to be shown at any FCI shows. (Therefore
Canadian dogs will not be able to attend next year’s World Show in Mexico).
The
FCI will no longer accept the CKC’s stud book.
We are now ostracized
and an international pariah.
This came as a result of
the FCI having sent the CEO of the CKC “many
many letters, and this ruling is the result of many letters that have never been
answered” (Direct quote from the FCI).
It has been suggested that the response
of the Canadian Kennel Club over the next few weeks will determine the ultimate
fate of the relationship between the CKC and FCI.We, the MEMBERS , ARE
THE CANADIAN KENNEL CLUB. This is not the time for talk amongst ourselves. We need to act, and act now,
with a UNITED
VOICE.
As a membership
organization, may I suggest you attend the Board Meeting at the CKC offices on
December 9/10. Your voices must be heard for us to overcome the crisis.
The Eukanuba Classic is being held this weekend in California, and
there will be many members of the FCI council in attendance.
It is now being suggested that we send our Chairman – Dwain McLean from
New Brunswick & PEI – Zone 2 also Lee Steeves from Nova Scotia & Newfoundland & Labrador – Zone
1 to this show where hopefully they could at least help to smooth out some of
the wrinkles that have occurred and perhaps ask that we attend the next council
meeting of the FCI in the new year. It is being suggested as well that Mr. Mauro
go along,,,,,,I am dead against him attending anything to do with this as he
is the single person who has put our registry in jeopardy with the world. In addition,
I welcome your suggestions, which you should copy to all the Board.
I remain
Yours sincerely and very upset in Dogs
Allan Pepper
